IT'S A GIRL!!!!!

So I am finally updating.. although I know everyone probably knows by now! But yes, my instincts were correct and Karris Grace will be joining us this summer! She was a stubborn one at Prenatal Peek, but after getting up to walk around and to get her moving - the tech confirmed that she is indeed a girl! After 5 minutes she said she was "pretty sure" she knew what it was, but that she wanted to get a few more angles. Of course baby girl had her little legs crossed. But after about 15 minutes she was kicking her arms and legs all over the place. My Dr. will do his gender determination at 20 weeks so - hopefully we will get confirmation then! :) Here is Daniel and I after we found out!
That night we had some friends over and first got everyone to write their name and place it on either a boy or girl side just to see for fun what the percentage was! :) 8 people thought boy and 7 thought girl. After that, I mixed up the names and picked one at a time. When your name was called you went and opened a card that was hanging on the wall - and in one of the cards, the sex of Baby K was revealed! It actually worked PERFECT - I was so scared that it would be the first card chosen, but it was the next to the last! Our friend David picked the "one"!

It was such a fun time. Like we have said all along, we have had no preference as to what baby K was - although as Daniel will confirm, since about week 8 I have thought that she was a she. I just had an instinct that it was! Maybe it was because my mom thought it was a girl so much and her motherly instinct became mine. Karris has a greatly expanding wardrobe already. Daniel has learned something new in the last week - and that is that babies are in new clothes every 3 months the first year of life. He understands now why I have had to buy a few cute outfits. I LOVE looking at girl clothes - they are all so sweet and precious! And, it makes it a little easier that pink is my favorite color. Daniel is very excited about our sweet little girl too. We talk about all the time how we can't wait until she is here already.
On another hand, we have some other exciting news! We are set to close on our house April 1. It is currently under construction but should be finished within a week or so! Here is a picture from the front - they just did the landscaping over the weekend, I love the palm trees!
We went to our friends Christina and Brian's wedding shower this weekend in Columbia. We had a great time getting to see the "Cola" crew. All of our friends with babies live in Columbia pretty much, so I was telling my friend Molly earlier that it's a good thing we spend half of our weekends in the fall in Columbia! Or either Christina and Brian will hopefully join the baby madness sometime soon so Karris will have a playmate down this way! Keep us in your prayers... things went well today at my 16 week appointment. Here is a pic from that - Dr. S said baby (they don't do my gender screening like I mentioned til 20 weeks) is all curled up in fetal position. He even said that they "had a great profile." When we were at prenatal peek last week the ultrasound tech commented on how "she had such full lips." And that was even just in 2D not even the 4D! Continue to keep the 3 of us in your prayers and my school in your prayers! I want to graduate in May and not August and be able to relax this summer!

Tomorrow is the Big Day! The first atleast!

I was just telling Daniel yesterday how crazy it is to think that based on what we are told tomorrow, how much it will shape our lives from here on out! It never really hit me any more than thinking about baby clothes and the nursery... but now I am thinking about the bigger picture - like do we look forward to baseball, golf & trains? Or will we be looking forward to playing dress up, dancing & princess parties? It really adds another element to all of this and makes me so much more excited to know! It's amazing to think that God hand picks each child he gives to us. Daniel grew up with a sister being the oldest and I grew up with a brother being the oldest so atleast we have experience in both aspects (from the younger sibling view atleast!). And with me being the middle child with an older & younger brother and a younger sister, I have seen it all except a big sister! So here is the breakdown of the old wives tales to predict what baby K could be... Chinese Gender says girl, Heart Rate above 140 = girl - baby K's was right at 140 last time so we are on the fence with it...Ring test back & forth for me = girl, craving sweets = girl, salty = boy - I have been craving sweet so = girl, whatever you dream about it will be the opposite - I have had 3 girl dreams and 1 boy so = boy, clumsiness = boy, the middle child has what their mom had starting with their 3rd (this only works if your mom has 3 kids which mine did) = girl. So we are pretty even there. I will update tomorrow after we have our "gender party!" We find out at 1:00 as long as baby cooperates so let's hope so! Having people over around 7 so I will update afterwards. Now I must get back to studying... I have my 2nd test tomorrow morning at 9 so say prayers for that too! Talk about a distraction right about now... atleast I did good on my 1st so I won't have to worry too much!

Happy 2nd Trimester!

I figured I would update before the next weeks get crazy again. I am now officially 13 weeks and 4 days! The first few weeks seemed to drag on, but now that school is back in full swing everything seems to be flying right along. I'm not complaining! I feel like I have gained a pound or 2 since last week. I am still not "showing" yet, although I can sense changes myself. Pants are a little tighter and all. I feel sure out of nowhere I will pop out in the next few weeks.
Daniel is a happy guy - he says this is is best year ever - and I agree! Within a year we are married, Gamecocks went to the SEC championship, baby is on the way, and his Packers won the Super Bowl! He should be on VH1's Best YEAR ever haha. I am glad I have contributed to the happiness a little bit. We finally went "out" somewhere and watched it. Daniel was worried it would be bad luck - but the cheeseheads prevailed. :) Here is a pic of him in the middle of his celebration. Blurry because it's from my BB.

School has started off to a surprisingly good start. I rocked my "last" first test of the semester with an 87! I honestly teared up I was so happy. All I have heard are horror stories about the last semester of nursing school. I decided that 2 brains are better than one... haha - defeated the baby brain syndrome! I have been in the ICU for my clinical rotations this semester. I was dreading it and although it is very sad, it always makes me happy when I leave and know I have done my best to improve someone's life. I try to think of every patient I take care of as a parent or grandparent and treat them the way I wish my family will always be treated. Here is a pic from last semester of me and some of my nursing girls - our last day of OB clinical - my favorite one so far (of course because of the babies!)

Met my mom and sister in Charleston for Saturday night - we had a great time. Just shopped around and went to an improv show. I had never been to one but my sister, being a theatre major, expanded my horizons! It was really funny - similar to "Whose line is it anyway?" So that was fun!
The next time I will be updating will probably be annoucing if we have a Karris Grace on the way or a Coleson Harris! We are so ecstatic to know! Probably me more than Daniel: me = NO PATIENCE!
??? KKG or CKH ???
